South Sudan President Salva Kiir returned home this afternoon after a two-day state visit to Nairobi where he held meetings with his Kenyan counterpart Uhuru Kenyatta.
Kiir visited Kenya in response to the invitation extended to him by his Kenya President Uhuru Kenyatta.
According to a statement issued by the president’s press office, Vice President James Wani Igga and presidential adviser for security affairs led government officials in receiving the President back to the country.
Kenya and South Sudan have signed a deal aimed at deepening economic ties.
Kenya has also agreed to allocate land for a dry port to South Sudan at the Naivasha Special Economic Zone and for a logistics hub near the new Lamu Port.
The government of Kenya announced that it plans to hold a trade fair in South Sudan in November this year, as part of efforts aimed at restoring confidence that Africa’s youngest nation is open for business.
