Kiir returns home after attending inauguration of Rwanda president

South Sudan’s President, Salva Kiir Mayardit, Friday returned home after a visit, which lasted for a number of hours, to Rwanda during which he attended the inauguration of President Paul Kagame who was re-elected for a new office term.

South Sudan’s President, Salva Kiir Mayardit, Friday returned home after a visit, which lasted for a number of hours, to Rwanda during which he attended the inauguration of President Paul Kagame who was re-elected for a new office term.

He was received upon return by a number of top government officials.

In a press statement, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Deng Alor Kuol, said President Kiir joined more than 20 heads of state as well as several dignitaries who witnessed the inauguration.

He said that President Kiir held meetings with several leaders. “So it was a very successful short visit when he was attending the inauguration,” he said.

President Paul Kagame was sworn in today for another seven-year term in office.
