Kiir replaces Private Secretary, Executive Director in his office

South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Monday evening replaced the Executive Director and the Private Secretary in his office, Simon Juach Deng and Atak Santino Majak respectively, who were appointed just five months ago.

In a decree broadcast on state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC), the President replaced the pair with Dominic Juk Chom and Deng Bona Bang as the Executive Director and Private Secretary respectively.

In another decree, Kiir appointed Simon Juach Deng, South Sudan’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe and Atak Santino Majak, the Undersecretary for Veteran Affairs in the Ministry of Defense and Veteran Affairs, replacing Gen Akec Tong Aleu, who was appointed the Director General of Internal Security Bureau in the National Security Services.

It was not clear why Kiir made the changes.

President Kiir as often exercised his powers to appoint and fire officials, sometimes only a few months after their appointment.
