Kiir removes four governors, appoints new officials

South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir on Monday night issued a decree removing four governors and appointing new officials to serve as governors in the newly created states.

In presidential decree read out on state-run SSBC, President Kiir removed Ruweng Governor Mayol Kur Akuei, Eastern Upper Nile Governor Chol Thon Balok, Fashoda Governor William Othwon and Gbudue Governor Patrick Raphael Zamoi.

In another decree, Kiir appointed new state governors.

The new appointees are:

Bol Ruach Rom -Governor of Maiwut State

Peter Gatkouth Kor – Governor of Latjor State

Thiji Dawad Deng – Governor of Ruweng State

Majok Gatluak Thoah – Governor of Bieh State

Gabriel Gai Riam – Governor of Akobo State

James Monybony – Governor of Central Upper Nile State

Deng Akuei Kak – Governor of Northern Upper Nile State

Patrick Raphael Zamoi – Governor of Tombura State
