South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir has pledged to bolster ties with the US administration under President Donald Trump.
This comes during his meeting with member of the Unite States Congress, Thomas Rooney at the State House in Juba on Saturday.
In a press statement shortly after the meeting, Thomas reiterated the US administration’s commitment to support the people of South Sudan.
For his part, South Sudan’s Minister of Information, Michael Makuei said President Kiir thanked the US government for supporting the country.
In February, President Salva Kiir told lawmakers in the country’s legislative assembly that his government obtained evidence that the US administration under former President Barrack Obama wanted regime change in South Sudan.
“We know the new US administration will take a different direction on South Sudan,” he said.
