Kiir names new ministers, commissioners in Warrap State

President Salva Kiir on Thursday evening appointed new ministers and county commissioners in Warrap State, his home area.

The officials are from Kiir’s Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Party.

In a decree broadcast on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Cooperation (SSBC), Kiir dismissed ministers Dr. James Madiel Akuk, of Health, Debora Awut Mayom Agok of General Education and Instruction, and Solomon Bol Mabior of Parliamentary and Legal Affairs. He also dismissed county commissioners Duchak Bol Duchak of Gogrial East County and Joseph Madut Deng of Tonj North County.

He then appointed ministers Abak Yiel Madut for Health and Solomon Bol Mabior for General Education and Instruction. Marko Garang Anyar was appointed the Gogrial East County Commissioner, and Mawien Cheriu Akec Mawien as Tonj North County Commissioner.

The President did not give any reasons for the changes.
