South Sudan President Salva Kiir said John Luk Jok, who is a leading member of the former detainees, did not dissolve his group during the SPLM Liberation Council meeting in Juba recently.
“Luk has no authority to devolve that organization. Taban did it because he had the authority because he was the chairman of SPLM-IO,"President Kiir said in an audio recording obtained by Radio Tamazuj.
The South Sudanese leader asked the country’s first vice president Taban Deng Gai to give details of his armed forces for integration into the army.
Kiir urged his party members in Juba to wait for their colleagues who failed to attend the SPLM Liberation Council meeting in Juba in order to realize the reunification of the historical party.
“There were people who came because of structures of the SPLM. They thought that the old structures would be dissolved and reconstituted and then forget about those who have not come. I said in my statement that we have no culture, we writing off our members who might have been discontented in the party for one reason or another,” said Kiir.
Kiir said he will work for the reunification of the SPLM party.
The SPLM-NLC meeting in Juba resolved that the members who failed to attend the meeting to attend the next meeting, which is scheduled to take place within 45 days.
The National Liberation Council meeting also decided to reinstate cadres of the party who took part in the meeting in Juba to resume their previous positions with immediate effect.
