South Sudan President Salva Kiir issued a presidential decree appointing two deputy chiefs to the newly created Greater Pibor Administrative Area.
Joseph Lelimoi Agozian will be the new Deputy Chief Administrator for Administration and Finance, while Apii Ojulo Ochundo is the new Deputy Chief of Services.
On 30 July, Kiir pointed David Yau Yau as chief administrator of Pibor after a peace accord between the SPLA-Juba and the Yau Yau’s South Sudan Democratic Army-Cobra Faction.
Previously, Kiir approved creation of seven counties under Yau Yau. These counties include Gumurok, Likuangole, Pibor, Bertak, Boma, Pochalla-North, and Pochalla-South.
New board appointed for Nilepet
Kiir also issued another decree appointing new members of Board of Directors of Nile Petroleum Company after dissolving the previous board which he appointed by decree in December 2011. No reasons were given for the latest dismissal of the Board.
Nile Petroleum is a technical, operational, and commercial arm of the National Ministry of Petroleum and Mining. It was created to build the national technical capabilities of the government to maximize government take of oil profits.
The executive orders went into effect from 3 September, announced South Sudan Television (SSTV) Wednesday.
The appointed members of the new board include:
- Stephen Dhieu Dau, Minister of Petroleum and Mining, chairperson
- Kengen Jakor, Deputy Minister of Finance, Commerce, Investment and Economic Planning, member
- Josephin Napon Cosmos, Deputy Minister of Youths and Sport, member
- Machar Achiek Ader, First Undersecretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Mining, member
- Salvatore Mabior Garangdit, First Undersecretary, Ministry of Finance, Commerce Investment and Economic Planning, member
- John Dor Major, Deputy Governor, Bank of South Sudan, member
- Akol Kur Kuch, Director General, Internal Security Bureau, member
- Paul Dong, Managing Director, Nile Pet, Secretary
- Benjamin Bol Mayor, Representative of South Sudan Business Community, member
