President Salva Kiir has appointed the deputy governor of Maiwut state, ending several months of lobbying among politicians vying for the position.

President Salva Kiir has appointed the deputy governor of Maiwut state, ending several months of lobbying among politicians vying for the position.

President Kiir, according to an administrative order which became public on Tuesday, appointed Hassan Bali Atik as the deputy governor.

 The appointment of deputy governor was made in accordance with the provision of the 2015 peace agreement and the agreement between President Salva Kiir and the First Vice President Taban Deng Gai.
