President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Friday evening appointed three deputy governors for Warrap, Northern Bahr el Ghazal and Central Equatoria states.

In a presidential decree, Kiir appointed Ayen Mayor Makuei, Tong Lual Ayak, and Sarah Nene Redento, Deputy Governors for Warrap, Northern Bahr el Ghazal and Central Equatoria states respectively.

The three appointees were nominees of the Other Political Parties, a signatory to the revitalized peace agreement.

Last week, members of the OPP petitioned the president to make appointments based on equality after they failed to agree on the distribution of positions.

On January 4, President Kiir appointed deputy governors for six states from the government and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement in Opposition. Appointments for Warrap, Northern Bahr el Ghazal and Central Equatoria states were put on hold following power-sharing disagreements.
