The player for Al-Salaam football club who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Maridi State was released on Wednesday evening, police authorities said.
Clement Double Seven, a police officer in charge of legal affairs in Maridi, said James Londo Mark who was kidnapped from Malakia residential area at gunpoint on 13 January had been released.
“I want to tell the public that we have received the kidnapped boy,” he said.
Double Seven did not say how the footballer was released by his kidnappers.
The police officer urged all citizens to provide information that would help prevent crime or lead to the arrest of criminals.
