Kickboxing Federation raises funds for World Muay Thai Championship

The South Sudan Kickboxing Federation (SSKF) held a fundraising event on Saturday at its headquarters in Juba to support its team’s participation in the upcoming World Muay Thai Championship in Thailand. The tournament is scheduled to take place from 4 to 18 March.

SSKF President Puro Okello Obob praised the generous contributions from supporters and expressed confidence in his team’s readiness to represent South Sudan on the global stage.

“Through kickboxing and Muay Thai, we are making progress. We are sending a strong message to the world that South Sudan is a nation of hospitality and tourism,” he said.

“We are brothers and sisters in sport, and through this, we can promote peace in our country and the world.”

Benjamin Omolo, the federation’s information secretary, confirmed that the fundraiser had collected at least $8,000 towards the team’s expenses.

“So far, we have reached our target of $8,600 to cover tickets, visas, food, registration, and participation fees,” he said.

Abednego Thon, one of South Sudan’s top fighters, said the team was prepared to make the country proud.

“We are ready to represent South Sudan and deliver strong results,” he said.
