Kickboxing event Friday in Juba to ‘promote peace’

South Sudan’s kickboxing club will hold an event on Friday evening at the Nyakuron Cultural Center in Juba. 

South Sudan’s kickboxing club will hold an event on Friday evening at the Nyakuron Cultural Center in Juba. 

The event announced over Radio Miraya will feature a main fight between Michel Gad Bar and Deans Romano from Uganda. The other main fight will be between Nicolas Mosaka of Uganda and Maweak Majak of the United States.

The chairperson of the National Kickboxing Federation Puro Okelo said, “We want to promote peace in this country and, of course, promote our teams, and also build the team up for the next coming event.”

Kickboxing is a mixed martial arts sport that originated in Thailand. The sport involves kicking and punching an opponent. The winner is determined by knockout or by the determination of a panel of judges.
