Khartoum welcomes Troika statement on opening of humanitarian corridor to South Sudan

Sudan has expressed its gratitude to the members of the ‘Troika’ – Norway, the United Kingdom, and the United States for commending the government for opening up new humanitarian corridors into South Sudan to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance to conflict and famine affected communities in South Sudan.

The Troika members recently hailed the Sudanese government for accepting over 365,000 South Sudanese refugees, including more than 60,000 South Sudanese who have entered Sudan in the first three months of 2017.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Sudan’s Foreign Ministry reiterated the government’s to assist the people of South Sudan South, adding that Sudan is doing what it could to bring stability and peace to South Sudan.
