Amin Hassan Omer, a leading ruling party figure and the Khartoum government’s chief negotiator on Darfur dossier said their delegation at consultative talks in Addis Ababa was waiting for the AU mediation to present a new roadmap to negotiators.
A new round of talks between the Sudanese government, the armed movements, and the National Umma Party began on Friday in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.
The consultative session is brokered by the AU High-level Implementation Panel (AUHIP) under the chairmanship of Thabo Mbeki.
The talks will discuss a comprehensive ceasefire in Darfur and the Two Areas (South Kordofan and Blue Nile), cessation of hostilities, the delivery of relief to those affected, as well as the participation in the National Dialogue.
In a Sunday statement from Addis Ababa, Omar said the negotiating parties could reach an agreement on the roadmap which is due to be submitted by former South African President Thabo Mbeki.
Mbeki is expected to return to Khartoum on Monday, to convey the response of the armed movements and dialogue opponents with regard to the government position passed to him during his recent visit.
