Sudanese Interior Minister, Babikir Digna, said they will implement new security measures for South Sudanese refugees in Sudan.
Last week, violence erupted in Khor Al-Waral refugee camp which hosts thousands of South Sudanese fleeing war in South Sudan.
In a statement to the media, Digna said they will coordinate with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) to see modalities to prevent further violence in the camps.
“We have put in place precautionary measures to secure the camp and the refugees will be divided into three groups and later taken to three different locations,” Digna said.
He further said all refugees arriving to Sudan will be required to register with the police before they are settled in the camps. Digna pointed out that the situation is now calm but more police forces will be deployed to secure the area.
