Sudan’s Foreign Ministry on Tuesday summoned a representative of the European Union in Khartoum in protest against what it termed “false information” in an earlier EU statement on the humanitarian situation in Blue Nile, Kordofan and Darfur regions.
In a statement, the foreign ministry announced that it rejects the information which it described as “false and misleading.”
“The humanitarian situation in Darfur and the other two areas has been calm for several months,” reads the statement.
This reaction comes after the European Commission declared additional humanitarian funding to Sudan, saying the new funding was meant to respond to an influx of refugees from South Sudan as well as internally displaced persons in Sudan.
Blue Nile and South Kordofan states have been witnessing clashes between the government troops and the Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North since 2011.
