Sudan’s joint oversight committee on Abyei said South Sudan has withdrawn from a joint meeting in Addis Ababa which was supposed to be held on 17 August.
The head of the joint committee in Sudan Hassan Ali Nimir told the Sudanese Media Centre (SMC) that the South Sudanese team has quit the meeting that was to be attended by traditional leaders of Ngok Dinka and Misseriya tribes.
He reiterated Khartoum’s commitment towards implementing the agreement signed with Juba on Abyei in June 2011, which covers the administrative and security arrangements in Abyei.
Radio Tamazuj was unable to reach the South Sudan’s committee to comment on the matter.
