The Sudanese government says it will participate in the Strategic Consultative Meeting that the African Union High Level Implementation Panel (AUHIP) intends to organize on 16 -18 March if President Omar al-Bashir is invited as the head of the Coordination Committee of the Sudan’s National Dialogue.
The consultative meeting is meant to bring together various stakeholders in Sudan including the government, Darfuri armed groups, the SPLM-North rebels, and the National Umma Party.
The Sudanese Minster for Information Ahmed Bilal said the dialogue will not end with the death of Hassan al-Turabi as the people are still interesting in the dialogue.
Bilal, who is also a member of the National Dialogue Committee, said in statement to the press in Khartoum that there is no intention to open a new dialogue with those who opposed the current National Dialogue.
He reiterated the government’s adherence to Doha and Naivasha agreements with the SPLM-N and Darfuri armed movements.
