Local residents in Khartoum city have bitterly complained about the failure of the government to provide them with sanitation services after heavy rains pounded the city recently.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, several residents said the rains have created breeding ground for mosquitoes, adding that a huge pile of garbage is left unattended making the town smelly and dirty.

An alliance of Sudanese opposition political parties called on Khartoum residents to publicly protest against the bad environment and poor health services in the state.

In a statement seen by Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, the alliance blamed the state government for the situation saying the governor should be removed.
