Sudan’s government has reiterated its commitment to help neighboring South Sudan to restore its security situation and recover from the current humanitarian crisis.

In a press statement in Khartoum on Friday, Ahmed Bilal Osman, Sudan’s Minister of Information, said the humanitarian call made by his government to assist the affected persons suffering from war in South Sudan proves their commitment to end violence in the world’s young nation.

“Sudan has a crucial role to play in bringing stability in South Sudan” he said.

Bilal pointed out that Sudan is receiving thousands of South Sudanese refugees fleeing the ongoing fighting, saying his government has provided the conflict-displaced people with humanitarian assistance.

Last week, the United States and Germany expressed their concern towards the situation in South Sudan.

Gerd Muler, German Federal Minister of Development, called for the end of the ongoing war and hostilities in South Sudan.

In a press statement, Muler said South Sudanese are dying of hunger and world leaders are watching without intervention. He stressed that the two warring parties much take responsibility of the crisis and work to restore peace in the country.

Meanwhile, the US State Department also expressed its concern over the situation in South Sudan. It called on the international community to quickly assist the humanitarian situation in South Sudan.
