Khartoum reiterates call for Juba to end support for Sudanese rebels

Sudan’s government has reiterated its call to the South Sudanese government to stop supporting Sudanese rebel groups, saying they are ready to rebuild relations between the sisterly countries.

Sudan’s government has reiterated its call to the South Sudanese government to stop supporting Sudanese rebel groups, saying they are ready to rebuild relations between the sisterly countries.

In a statement to SUNA, Sudanese Foreign Affairs Minister, Ibrahim Gandour said Sudanese Vice President Hassabo Mohamed Abdurrahman met with his South Sudanese counterpart Taban Deng in Addis Ababa on Tuesday and discussed issues of bilateral relations.

He further said during the meeting which he described as transparent, Hassabo asked the South Sudanese government to stop supporting rebels in Darfur, Blue Nile and Nuba Mountains.

Gandour revealed that he has handed over an official letter from President Omer Al-Bashir to invite South Sudan’s President to visit Khartoum.

For his part, the South Sudanese First Vice President, Taban Deng Gai described the meeting as transparent and called for collective efforts to build good relations between the two countries.
