South Sudanese Foreign Minister Awut Deng and visiting Sudanese Foreign Minister Asmaa Mohammed met on Thursday, pledging to boost bilateral relations.

The two ministers made the remarks when meeting in Juba.

Minister Asmaa said her country is willing to deepen cooperation and promote bilateral ties with neighboring South Sudan.

She pointed out that the new government in Sudan will further enhance bilateral ties and expand cooperation with South Sudan at all levels.

“We think the time is suitable to implement the agreements which were not implemented by Sudan and South Sudan,” Asmaa said.

For her part, Minister Awut said that the two countries are ready to further promote cooperation and enhance bilateral ties. “We discussed many bilateral issues concerning outstanding issues in the Comprehensive Peace Agreement where borders, cooperation, economic and political issues are still be discussed, “she said.

Awut pointed out that the two countries would discuss a roadmap to enhance cooperation and bilateral relations.

Sudan's new Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok and his delegation arrived in Juba on Wednesday, announcing that "the sky is the limit" for cooperation between the two nations.

South Sudanese President Salva Kiir is hosting talks between Sudan's government and rebel groups. The parties on Wednesday agreed upon a roadmap for peace in what is seen as a major step toward finding solutions to conflicts in Darfur, South Kordofan and Blue Nile regions.
