A criminal trial of two Sudanese pastors detained by police authorities since December last year without charges is scheduled to start tomorrow in Khartoum.

Pastors Kowa Shamaal and Hassan Abdelrahim were transferred from police cells to the main jail in the capital’s twin city of Omdurman ahead of a 14 August court hearing which was adjourned.

A source told Radio Tamazuj that the court session last week was attended by four defense lawyers representing prosecution witnesses and 21 lawyers defending the two pastors.

Abdelrahim is a moderator, while Shamaal is the head of missions in the Sudanese Church of Christ.
