A Sudanese family court has issued a death sentence against two men found guilty of sexually abusing a girl. The court in Khartoum Bahri also acquitted two others.
A source told Akhir-Lahza newspaper that the incident took place when the girl went out of their home at night to bid farewell to her friends who came to attend a ceremony organized by her family.
While on her way back home, the girl was intercepted by four youths who were allegedly carrying a sword. The abusers took the girl to an empty school where they ganged-raped her and then ran away, according to the prosecution.
The abused girl was found by a police patrol and then taken to a hospital for treatment, according to the same source. Health authorities confirmed that the girl was raped.
The police managed to arrest the four suspects to face justice, but the court ordered the release of the other two defendants due to lack of evidence.
