A Sudanese economist, Essam Al- Khidir says the recent soaring of prices of goods in the market is due to poor economic policies by the government.

Some citizens in the Sudanese capital Khartoum complained of rapid price increases in the markets including food items.

Al-Khidir told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that the value of the Sudanese Pound is also deteriorating against international currencies.

He attributed this to bad politics, lack of transparency in government expenditures as well as a lack of clear fiscal policy.

The economic expert urged the government to reformulate a clear fiscal policy that will rescue the country’s economy and ensure service delivery to the local population.
