Transporters say that they lost a value of millions of shillings when two trucks belonging to a Kenyan company were set fire at the Uganda-South Sudan border in an attack by unknown perpetrators early last Sunday morning.

Kenya’s Daily Nation reports that the two trucks earlier reported burned in Nimule belonged to Transpares of Mombasa. They were set fire as they waited for clearance at the Nimule customs point.

“We incurred a loss of over Sh16 million. The cargo owners also lost. Porters were shot at and a fuel tank was set ablaze,” said Imran Pasta, a Transpares director, as quoted by the Daily Nation.

During the attack the unknown attackers also shot and wounded one custom guard by the name of Boyi Modi, a 32-year old sergeant.
