In a tragic incident on Monday night, a 28-year-old Kenyan national of Somali origin lost his life in a violent encounter with suspected armed robbers.
Major General Moses Machok Makuach, the acting police commissioner in Jonglei State, confirmed to Radio Tamazuj that the trader was fatally shot during a robbery near Bor town’ Marol suburb on Monday night.
The police chief revealed that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the double crime.
“After the incident, we dispatched our security forces and closed the Bor-Juba Road and the roads within the town. One suspected was arrested along the Juba-Bor road,” he said. “We brought him here (Bor) and he is undergoing investigations to establish whether he was involved in the crime or not.”
Gen. Machok said an unspecified amount of money was stolen during the robbery and called for calm among the foreign business community in Bor as the police have strengthened security.
