Stranded air travelers in South Sudan’s capital Juba should be able to leave by Friday if they already had a booking for a flight earlier this week that was suspended, Kenya Airways claims.
Commercial airlines that operate in and out of Juba were forced to suspend flights since Saturday owing to fighting in the city. But yesterday Kenya Airways announced on its website that it would resume operations from today with two daily flights, one at 07:15 and the other at 13:20 daily.
“Kenya Airways will avail a larger capacity aircraft, B737-800, to accommodate more guests and clear the backlog that has been occasioned by the airline suspending flights from Sunday, July 10, following an eruption of unrest in the country.”
The airline announced Friday as its target for clearing the backlog of passengers who were stranded when flights this week were delayed.
“To clear the backlog by Friday 15th July, the airline will give priority to guests based on their original return dates,” reads the statement from the airline.
Kenya Airways said it can be reached for assistance via a 24 hour contact centre on +254 20 327 4747.
