Kator Football Club (KFC), the runners-up in the South Sudan Local Cup in Juba for the past two seasons, has confirmed the completion of all technical and administrative arrangements necessary to hold a General Assembly to elect a new board of directors for the club.
Juma John, the club’s secretary, told Radio Tamazuj Wednesday that the term of the outgoing board of directors elapsed on 14 December 2023. He said the club did not have the opportunity to hold a General Assembly at that time due to the exceptional circumstances facing the local federation in Juba.
“After the general assembly of the Juba Federation was held and the clubs elected a management committee, the Federation issued a pressurizing program for the league, resulting in clubs playing a match every 48 hours. This made the club not have enough time to hold the General Assembly on time,” he explained. “This coincided with the beginning of the supplementary transfer period six days ago but we have addressed the Youth and Sports Organizations Registration Commission in Central Equatoria State to extend the term of the Board of Directors in preparation for strengthening the team’s ranks in the past transfer period and giving them some time to prepare for the General Assembly.”
He pointed out that the Commission approved their request per Article (18) of the Law on Registration of Youth and Sports Organizations in Sudan of 2003 and gave them 21 days.
“Yesterday at our headquarters, we held an important meeting in the presence of the Board of Directors, leaders, members, fans, and veteran players to provide enlightenment regarding the latest arrangements for holding the General Assembly,” he added. “This happened because the process of preparing for holding the General Assembly requires the presence of all these parties who represent the members of the General Assembly and they welcomed the step because of its legality.”
John pointed out that the meeting decided to form an independent preparatory committee to undertake all the necessary arrangements for holding the next general assembly, describing that committee as neutral and approved by members of the general assembly.
“The committee is chaired by a lawyer, Michael Wilson, and the members include Manasi Lasuna, the former club secretary Robert Rukia, James Cosa, and Napoleon Hakim,” he stated.
The Central Equatoria State Youth and Sports Organizations Registration Commission has set 13 January 2024 as the date for holding the general assembly to elect a new board of directors for the Kator Football Club.
