Officials at the Kapoeta Civil Hospital in South Sudan have closed down cholera treatment centres in the town due to a sharp decline in the number of reported cholera cases.
Mustapha Lokuru, medical director of the hospital, told Radio Tamazuj on Sunday that no new cases have been reported at the hospital for the last one month.
He said all the treatment equipment and drugs have been transferred to other counties like Chukudum that still report cases.
Lokuru further said although Chukudum is still reporting cases, the number has also dramatically reduced. He noted that nearly 150 people have died of cholera since it broke out in the area.
