Dozens of local residents at Kalakla Sangaat residential area south of the Sudanese capital Khartoum took to the street on Wednesday night to protest against blackouts and water supply cuts for a long period of time in the area.
Several witnesses told Radio Tamazuj that dozens of protesting residents of Kalakla Sangaat residential area burned tires and blocked the road during their protests.
Various residential areas elsewhere in Khartoum city also reported water and power cuts during the holy month of Ramadan.
For their part, several MPs in the Khartoum State Legislative Assembly have voiced their support for protests in various residential areas over lack of services in the state.
Manal Arkawit, an MP in the state, said she will lead the protests if the residents decide to protests over the lack of services. Hisham Al Reida, an MP, said the state lawmakers cannot control the protests.
