Kajokeji commissioner calls on cattle herders leave before rainy season begins

Local authorities in Kajokeji County in South Sudan’s Central Equatoria State have called on cattle herders to return to their areas before this year’s agricultural season starts.

Lokonga Julius, the Kajokeji County Commissioner, told Radio Tamazuj that cattle herders had come from Lobonok payam last week with a large number of livestock.

He disclosed that the herdsmen were stationed near agricultural fields at Buka area. The local official warned against any attempt to destroy agricultural crops when the rainy season starts.

Julius pointed out that citizens depend on agriculture as the only source of food. “The agricultural season is approaching, so I will meet with chiefs of the herders, I will tell them to return to areas where they came from," said the commissioner.
