An educational coordinating body for the three states of Sudan’s Kordofan region, held in Kadugli town on Sunday, has resolved to take measures to improve general education, including improving cooperation with communities.
The forum recommended improvement of teachers’ working condition in an attempt to make the teaching profession attractive, besides the establishment of state funds to support education through networks with the community.
South Kordofan State has witnessed insecurity due to fighting between the Khartoum government and the SPLA-North rebels since 2011.
Addressing the educational forum, Sudan’s State Minister of Education Abdel-Hafiz Sadiq confirmed his ministry’s commitment to implementing the recommendations made by participants at the forum.
The government official pointed out his ministry had divided the country into five zones in order to provide an opportunity for discussion on issues pertaining to trainings and capacity-building.
