The Parliament of the newly Proposed Jubek State has Tuesday resolved to summon the state minister of local government over recent clashes in Managala.
On May 7th, three soldiers and a woman were killed when an armed tribal group attacked the Mangala area in Central Equatoria State on Saturday during a celebration of the inauguration of the new Mangala County government.
‘’The issue of Mangalla should be solved by the two administrations of Jubek and Terekeka States peacefully and amicably. The governor of Jubek state should form a crisis management committee comprising of the two arms of the state government to address the issue of the displaced citizens of Managalla county’’ read the parliamentary resolution.
The assembly speaker Peter Kenyi Tombe condemned the attack in a statement, calling on President Kiir to use all necessary security apparatus to investigate the incident.
Tombe said that enemies of peace are cultivating environment of conflict among the communities.
“We strongly believe that South Sudan has lost too many lives during the last civil strife and it cannot afford to lose even a single more life. We future believe that all our energies should be directed to fighting poverty, illiteracy, corruption, barbarity and ignorance’’
State Member of Parliament Alfred Kiri Yokwe urged for a peaceful means of solving the conflict.
“The reason for creating counties reflects the Philosophy of our late hero Dr. John Garang. This is not time to announce war between the two tribes of Mundari and Bair’’ kiri said.
