The appointed governor of proposed Jubek State Augustino Jadalla Wani has vowed that the state government will work together with state sports officials to trace and return school playgrounds which were grabbed.

‘’Juba was having playgrounds but now these play grounds are all grabbed. So all of us need to trace out where these spaces are and who grabbed them,” he said during a trophies ceremony at the peace games recently held in Juba.

“These schools were having all play grounds but the fields were all grabbed and turned to homes or shops,” he said.

“You the people of sports, ministry of youth and sports, this is your right. If there are fields here then we need to get police and get these play grounds,” he said. “You will be in the forefront and we as the state we will be behind you…The law enforcement agencies will go with you.”

Jadalla said he wants to see all children in Juba in schools in the day and in the evening playing games and sports. The governor also donated 100,000 South Sudanese pounds to support state sports.

He stressed the need to establish a training camp for sports to accommodate players coming to Juba from other states. The governor noted the importance of sports in creating unity and development however said funding shortages would be one factor that would affect his plans.
