Juba University to host lectures on historical peace agreements

South Sudan’s main university will host a lecture series this coming week on “Historical agreements and their lessons for the future.” Both foreign and South Sudanese academics will feature as lead speaker and panelists.

South Sudan’s main university will host a lecture series this coming week on “Historical agreements and their lessons for the future.” Both foreign and South Sudanese academics will feature as lead speaker and panelists.

The lecture on Wednesday (22 Oct.) will focus on the 1972 Addis Ababa Agreement, the lecture on Thursday (23 Oct.) will focus on the 1999 Wunlit conference, and the lecture on Friday (24 Oct.) will focus on the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

Each lecture takes place from 6-8pm at New Hall One, University of Juba.

The annual lecture series is organized by the independent Rift Valley Institute. Speakers and panelists include Dr Leben Moro, Dr Douglas Johnson, Dr Alfred Lokuji, and Dr Luka Biong Deng.

Last year the lectures focused on the constitution and constitution-making process.
