61 doctors at Juba Teaching Hospital have been on strike since Saturday in protest of delayed salaries by the ministry of health since the beginning of the year.
The doctors went on strike on Saturday raising concerns about the way the ministry of health is dealing with them after they demanded their rights to have their salaries.
“The undersecretary ordered us to leave the job or continue without payment, that’s why we decided to go on strike. We are suffering from mistreatment amid lack of food, water and accommodation,” the doctors said.
They added that at the beginning the ministry agreed to pay them but since December they are working without payment.
The doctors blamed the minister and his undersecretary. They said they submitted a letter demanding their salary and calling for better environment in the hospital.
The doctors stressed that they will not call off the strike until the ministry listens to their demands and solves their issues.
