The head of the Sudanese national team mission and advisor to the Sudanese Football Association, Mohammed Ahmed Sir Al-Khatim, also known as Jakumi, has confirmed that the Sudanese national team will play its international matches at Juba National Stadium.
Jakumi spoke to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday after the match between the South Sudan national team and the Sudan national team, where Sudan defeated South Sudan 3-0.
He confirmed that all international team matches, as well as the matches of Al Hilal and Al Merreikh clubs, will be transferred to South Sudan and played at Juba International Stadium.
“Our national team has decided to play all its matches in Juba. All matches of Al Hilal and Al Merreikh CF clubs will also be played in Juba,” Jakumi stated.
He conveyed his congratulations on the victory to the President of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, on the occasion of Sudan’s victory over South Sudan.
“Juba is our second city,” Jakumi explained. “Juba hosted the Sudanese peace negotiations between the Sudanese transitional government and the armed struggle movements.”
Sports activities in Sudan have stopped due to the ongoing war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.
The RSF has been at war with the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), headed by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, since 15 April 2023.
