Juba sets November 21 for resumption of Sudanese talks

The committee mediating the Sudanese talks in Juba has announced that a third round of talks will commence on 21st November 2019.

The Sudanese government and the rebel umbrella Sudanese Revolutionary Front (SRF) signed a political accord on Monday, paving the way for the launch of negotiations and a ceasefire agreement for humanitarian purposes.

The chief mediator Tut Galuak told reporters in Juba on Tuesday that talks between the rival groups will resume on November 21st in Juba.

He expressed optimism that the parties will reach an amicable solution and sign a final peace deal in those talks.

"The next round of talks is the last, which will culminate in the final signing of the peace agreement between the government and the armed movements," Tut said.

The Sudanese transitional government is negotiating with the Sudanese Revolutionary Front, led by AlHadi Idriss Yahya, and the SPLM-North of Abdel Aziz Adam Al Hilu.

The government's efforts in Juba are aimed at achieving peace in Darfur, which has been ravaged by war since 2003, and Blue Nile and Nuba Mountains, where fighting broke out in 2011.
