Juba releases Sudanese prisoners

South Sudan’s information minister and government spokesman, Barnaba Benjamin, has announced the return of Sudanese prisoners, detained in South Sudan, to Khartoum. The move was in response to the recent release by Sudan of a number of South Sudanese prisoners in accordance with the Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir’s resolution prior to his visit to Juba earlier this month.

The move was in response to the recent release by Sudan of a number of South Sudanese prisoners in accordance with the Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir’s resolution prior to his visit to Juba earlier this month.

Khartoum welcomed the move before adding that it reflects the serious commitment of both parties towards the recent implementation of a cooperation agreement signed by the two countries.
