The Malakia High Court in Juba has postponed the hearing of the case for compensation of families of the Pieri plane crash for January 2023.
The families have been in court for more than a year demanding compensation after their kins perished in a deadly plane crash at the Pieri Airstrip in Uror County of Jonglei state.
The aircraft registered HK-4274 belonging to South Supreme Airline crashed shortly after takeoff killing 10 people aboard, including two crew members, in March last year.
During the hearing on Friday, the defense team requested the court to grant them more time to present the final submission for the court to make a decision which the court accepted.
“We were preparing to present the final submission, but the defense lawyer alleged that he was not ready, so he requested the hearing to be adjourned. The judge approved the adjournment for January 12th 2023,” said Counsel Nyok Kuol, Plaintiff Advocate.
Kuol said the case has been prolonged, but he assured the victims that the law will take its cause until they are compensated.
According to Kuol, the next session will be for the final submission of both the defense and the plaintiff before the judge makes the final ruling.
