A high-level delegation of the South Sudanese government visited the Sudanese capital Khartoum on Saturday morning, headed by Telar Ring Deng, legal adviser to President of South Sudan Salva Kiir.
The presidential advisor was accompanied by National Security Service Director of Internal Security Akol Kur. Upon arrival in Khartoum the delegation entered into meetings at the premises of the National Intelligence and Security Service.
No information was made available about the discussion, but at issue is potentially the matter of Khartoum’s relations to the South Sudanese opposition led by Riek Machar. Several political associates of Machar are present in Khartoum.
Another delegation from Juba also arrived to Khartoum on Sunday from the ministry of health, headed by Undersecretary Matur Makur Koriom. He met with his Sudanse counterpart on training of health workers in Khartoum and the signing of a memorandum of understanding on the exchange of expertise and training of doctors.
The team from Juba included the director of human resources at the health ministry as well as a senior official from the Ministry of Labour and Public Service.
