A body of a man was found floating on River Nile in the South Sudanese capital Juba on Wednesday morning, police said.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, Police Spokesman Major General Daniel Justin said it was not clear whether the man had drowned in the river or was killed elsewhere and dumped there.

The police officer said the body had been taken to the Juba Teaching Hospital mortuary, but there was not enough information about the deceased.

“Yeah, the body has been taken for the postmortem, but we are still investigating. No information about his identity,” Justin said.

“The deceased’s nationality is not yet clear since there is no identity card and no case was opened for the missing person. We have not received any case that someone is missing,” he added.
