Women Raped Near Juba Bridge

Two men have been arrested for raping a woman near the Juba Bridge on Wednesday, police said.

Sergeant Kasimiro Mark told Radio Tamazuj that at least four men gang-raped the women, and authorities are still searching for the other two suspects.

 

Crime Prevention Event Exposes Rifts Between Police and Community 

At least 100 people attended a community crime prevention awareness event in Gudele held on Wednesday. The program was organized by the United Nations Development Program, Safer World, and the Organization for Non-violence and Development. 

Lt. Joseph Ochaya, Gudele Block 09 police officer says that youth are involved in committing crimes in the region, but a local community leader disagreed and blamed police for their poor duties.

A community elder Frances Lwala suggested joint movie patrols to reduce crime levels, especially during Christmas.

 

Three Men Steal Phones and Money

Police have arrested one man and are searching for two others after allegedly stealing cellphones and money. 

Nixson Simon was arrested for apparently stealing goods in a plan that was apparently hatched by servants.

According to the complainant complaint, three people with weapons barged into a home, and asked for keys.

“The robbers tied up their hands and closed their mouth with help of adhesive tape and ran away with four cell phones and 480 SSP,” a police officer told Radio Tamazuj.

According to police, Simon admitted to the crime.

 

Elderly Women Strangled

An elderly woman was allegedly strangled in her cot on the outer Serekat residential area this week.

The woman, 46, was identified as Josephine Simon. 

“She is survived by her four children,” police said.

Police officer Thomas Ajith also said that her son-in-law Orestino Babu has also been missing after the incident.
