Juba County commissioner Emmanuel Tete Ezbon on Monday approved a unified revenue collection schedule to be used in the 13 Payams together with the 2024/2025 fiscal budget amounting to SSP 16.2 billion.

While addressing county councilors the commissioner said there is an urgent need for improved revenue collection to address longstanding challenges, especially in the areas of development, infrastructure, and service delivery in Juba County.

“We have been operating with an outdated budget and registration system from 2021/2022 which has hindered progress amid the current economic hardships,” he said.

Tete is optimistic that with the newly approved revenue collection plan, his administration can move forward with the necessary projects to benefit the people of Juba County.

Furthermore, he urged payam directors to intensify efforts in revenue collection and implement rotational systems for collectors to ensure efficiency and transparency.

“There must be changes in how we collect revenue from markets and other sources. Our priority is to deliver better services to the people of Mangalla, Lo’bonok,

Lirya, Lokiliri, and Tijor Dollo payams among others,” he stressed.

The commissioner vowed to fight corruption and ensure resources are utilized effectively and thanked the council members for their commitment, promising visible improvements in service delivery and infrastructure.

“This marks the beginning of a new chapter for Juba County,” he stated. “Together, as the executive and legislative bodies, we will work hand in hand to elevate the county to a higher level.”

For his part, Daniel Jada Marcello, Speaker of the Juba County Legislative Council, commended the adoption of the new budget and revenue schedule, describing it as a milestone in the county’s history.

“This document is a significant legacy for the people of Juba County,” he said. “It addresses critical challenges that have obstructed our plans and lay a foundation for better service delivery.”

Jada urged leaders to ensure the timely and effective implementation of the new policies, stressing that their success depends on proper execution.

“This mutual understanding and collaboration between the executive and legislative branches will pave the way for meaningful development in Juba County,” he concluded.
