The commissioner of Juba County, Emmanuel Tete Ezbon, has revealed that the Government of Central Equatoria State is working to solve the problems related to land grabbing in the state’s counties.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of the new Speaker of Juba County Council, Dr. Daniel Jada Marcelo, on Wednesday, the commissioner called on the city’s councilors not to submit mass resignations due to poor services within the council, noting that the state parliament is grappling with the same problems because the country is going through an economic crisis.
“Our goal here is to provide services to the citizens of Central Equatoria State, and the state government is working day and night to solve the problem of land grabbing,” he stated. “This problem takes a long time.”
The commissioner called on county chiefs to only distribute land that has been planned to the citizens. He said the state government is also working to solve all the problems related to cattle raiding and called on the Terekeka County commissioner to issue an order banning the movement of cattle from Terekeka to Juba County.
According to Tete, the county is working to reduce taxes on food supplies to alleviate the suffering of citizens in Juba City.
For his part, Leon Abi Brown, the Minister of Local Government in Central Equatoria State, called on the councilors to implement the state’s laws, especially the local government laws related to the selection of ministers in Central Equatoria State.
The new speaker called on the commissioner of Juba County to expedite the completion of the construction works on the new building of the Juba County Council. He also urged the members of the council to respect the laws of Juba County.
