The conditions of the Juba-Bor road pose a huge challenge to traders transporting commodities to Bor town, a local official said.

Mabior Kuol Ajok, head of the commerce chamber in Jonglei, told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday that seven trucks loaded with goods en route to Bor town are stranded at Malithtor of Terekeka State since last week.

“Now cars are stuck in the mud for five days and traders are worried about their goods so I am asking the government to help us on the issue of the road,” said Mabior.

He pointed out that the prices will drop when the government renovates the Juba-Bor road, subsidizes fuel prices and exempts business people from paying taxes.

Mabior noted that the prices are still stable at the market. However, he said the situation will change if the road remained inaccessible due to heavy rains.

For his part, the Governor of Jonglei State Philip Aguer said that his government will try to assist the affected traders.
