The Secretary-General of Central Equatoria State Basketball Association Sabit Maclely says that basketball competitions will continue this week after a week-long suspension due to a misunderstanding between the referee John Salim and Citizen’s coach Hadaf Mawien, which occurred during the match of Hilal with Citizen.

The referee John Salim, secretary of the referees’ committee in CESBA, asked all referees not to referee any matches last week because Citizen’s coach Hadaf Mawien had allegedly insulted the referee telling him that he did not know basketball rules.

The coach was protesting an order suspending him for two matches, saying the move was illegal.

Last week only one match was played, between Malakia and Nasir.

Currently Citizen is in first place in the league, having lost only one of its 13 matches, while Natinoal is in second place, with a record of 11 wins and 3 losses. Nimra Talata also has a record of 11 wins and 3 losses, and Black Stars has won 9 and lost 4. In fifth place is Malakia with 9 wins and 5 losses.
