A youth leader from Jonglei State has called for an inclusive peace process involving the Murle and the Dinka Bor youth for the sake of peace between the two states.

Jonglei and Boma state officials were scheduled to start a peace initiative to restore peaceful coexistence supported by the UN Mission in South Sudan in Terekeka state this week. The peace conference is yet to begin.

The Bor youth spokesman Ayuen Guet told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that they will only respect any peace deal signed between the two government of Jonglei and Boma states when all abducted children and stolen cattle are returned.

Guet further said they also demand for the payment of blood compensation for those killed in Gadiang and Jalle in a cattle raid in December last year.

For his part, Nyang Korok, the Murle youth representative from Boma state, said local youth from Jonglei are staying near the border in preparation for an attack.

Korok further said they promised to return the stolen cattle. “But as they were assembling the cattle, we noticed the deployment of Bor youth along the border,” he said.

He reiterated their call for peaceful coexistence with the people of Jonglei.
